BONNIE HOESLY MEMORIAL CTR, June 22, 2003
We held our first BCCTRA CTR of the year at Gary Eaves & family's farm in Nanoose. Thank-you so much Gary for the great camping area. Some riders came early and had an afternoon ride. Gary and his grand-daughter Taylor did Level 1 together with Taylor picking up the High Point QH Breed Award.
Thank-you to all the logging companys for letting us in, as there is already a fire alert on.
Barb Smith and I would like to thank all the riders that came to this BCCTRA event, 36 in all! A great turnout. 11 Level 3's was a great site to see here on the Island, 3 of them Jr's, 9 Level 2's and 16 Level 1's. John Edan and Gary found some of Chuck Chestnuts old trails so we had a little hill work for all Levels.
We had our great list of volunteers again this year. The group from Silver Spurs Riding Club, and our great Vets - Dr. Doug Quesnel and Dr. Michael Anthony, Bonnies sister Fran Graham, all the friends and family of the riders, and people helping Barb with the trails. Dallas Noble did a double job for us as farrier again this year, and was a drag rider. Thank-you all, this ride could not happen with out you.
Pamela Blair (S/T and eternal slave for BCCTRA) came over for the day, accompanied with Willow, and David popped in at the last minute just when we needed him. Just in time to help us figure out the timing!!
The weather was cool most of the day, which helped the horses and riders thru the long day. The Pot Luck dinner at the end of the day showed Alice Howse that it could work for the Cowichan Valley CTR in Sept. It was a great day. See you next year.
